When we were at the entrance of kamari village in Santorini, we saw Bacchus tavern. A simple and so authentic place to eat like home. Two brothers and their amazing and so kind mother serve people from all around the world for many years. We became friends from the first day as we visited the place four times!
Mousaka, greek spaghetti, salads, local cheese, fresh potatos, oven foods are dishes we tasted. Every day we ordered the plate of that day.
The guys at the restaurant told us that the building was originally built in 1958 as a coffee shop and a meeting place for the village so it was part of the village market. Then, became a tavern starting to offer home made food. Of course they use only local materials.
We are there on Octobe so we did not surprised when started to rain. We had to stay more. They proved one more time that it is not just a restaurant. It’s a family. Their mother, made us Greek coffee and a complimentary sweet she had made just half an hour ago. Still having the aroma.
